The Nvidia DLSS is a revolutionary feature for the company’s RTX graphics card, and it soon could receive a big upgrade as well. Nvidia DLSS Ultra Quality mode has been mentioned in the documentation of Unreal Engine 5.
As discovered by Reinhardovich and shared on Reddit, a page in the Unreal Engine 5 documentation for Nvidia DLSS includes a new mode called Ultra Quality. The documentation makes it clear that this is only placeholder mode and is not visible for the end-users.
Furthermore, Unreal Engine uses a brand new version of DLSS that is not available in games yet. The engine features DLSS 188.8.131.52, while the most recent version of the technology in video games is 184.108.40.206.
It’s not far from expectations to get an Ultra Quality mode for DLSS in the future. At the moment, the technology features an Ultra Performance with a Resolution Scale of 33%, while the highest option available is the Quality mode with a 66.6% scale factor. If the Ultra Quality mode finds its way towards the video games soon enough, it could probably deliver over 70% scale factor, competing against AMD’s FidelityFX technology.

If you wonder about the use of DLSS, it simply increases the frame-rate amount you get in games using deep learning in real-time to up-sample lower-resolution textures to a higher resolution screen.
AMD has the same technology under the name of FidelityFX Super Resolution, which indeed features an Ultra Quality mode with a resolution factor of 76.9%.
